일상예술전
일상예술전은 일상과 거리가 있는 전시라는 기회를 통해 지역주민들의 현재를 작가의 시선으로 바라보려는 시도이다. ‘나’와 ‘우리’라는 의식을 형성하게 한 진부에 대한 지역주민들의 사적인 기억과 공동체적인 기억에 대한 이야기, 그리고 현재를 살아가는 그들이 당면하고 있는 이슈들과 이를 바라보는 작가의 시선이 시각예술작품을 통해 직조된다. 전시된 작품들은 개인의 사적인 기억과 경험을 아우르며, 이를 바라보는 외부인의 시선과도 얽혀있다. 참여 작가들은 작품의 제작과정에서 진부의 환경, 역사, 기억, 문화적 조건들, 지리적 특성을 고려하게 된다는 점에서 진부 주민들과 지역에 관한 인식을 공유하게 된다. 진부의 역사와 문화적 맥락을 관통하며 작가의 인식이 투사된 작품들은 관람객들로 하여금 작가의 작업에 무형과 유형의 방식으로 참여한 진부 주민들과의 소통으로 이끈다.
전시에 참여한 정해민 작가는 진부를 관찰하며 얻어진 지역에 대한 자신의 제삼자적 관점을 작품에 투영하여 재조합했고, 유년시절 진부에서 성장하고 작품 활동을 이어가고 있는 양순영 작가는 진부에 대한 사적 경험과 세월의 흔적이 쌓여 있는 장소의 물리적 조건을 뛰어 넘는 정신적 요소를 모색했다. 이은우 작가와 김진아 작가는 지역 리서치를 기반으로 작가의 생각이 표출된 예술작품이 지닌 그것의 사회적 소통 가능성에 주목하며 지역주민들과의 유무형의 협업 방식으로 작품을 제작하였다. 각각의 작가들이 지난여름 진부를 돌아보며 관찰하고 소통한 내용을 바탕으로 진부의 ‘현재-주민-공간’에 대한 이슈를 선정하여 개별 작업으로 풀어낸 작업의 결과물들은 미디어아트, 디지털아트, 회화, 설치 등의 형태로 진부시장 내 전시공간인 컨템포러리LOOK에서 소개된다.
진부 주민들의 일상이 펼쳐지는 진부의 ‘핫’ 플레이스인 진부시장에서 각기 다른 작가들의 다양한 시선으로부터 출발하여 완성된 작품들을 소개하는 본 전시는 지역주민들이 보다 친근하게 현대미술을 접하고 소통하는 장이 되기를 바란다. 주민들의 삶과 함께 변화되어온 공간인 진부시장에 펼쳐놓은, 주민들이 공유하고 있는 공통의 기억과 현재를 바라보는 그들의 시선을 다룬 작품들은 관람자로 하여금 익숙한 삶의 공간이 전시의 공간으로 탈바꿈되는 ‘공간의 재발견’을 경험하게 하는 계기가 될 것이다.
Art of Everyday Life Exhibition
The Art of Everyday Life Exhibition is an attempt to view the here and now of local residents from the perspectives of artists through an exhibition that is far removed from our daily lives. A story of local residents’ private and collective memories about Jinbu, which have shaped their senses of both “I” and “we,” the issues that they are facing while living in the present moment, and the artists’ perspectives on them are all woven into visual art works. The works on display not only encompass the private memories and experiences of individuals, but also reflect outsiders’ viewpoints. Participating artists have to consider the environment, history, memories, cultural conditions, and geographical characteristics of Jinbu in the process of creating their works, thereby sharing their perception of the region with the local residents. The works, which penetrate the historical and cultural context of Jinbu and reflect the artists’ perceptions, lead viewers to communicate with the local residents in Jinbu, people who have participated in the creation of the artworks in both intangible and tangible ways.
From his observations of Jinbu, artist Jeong Hae Min projected and recombined his “third-party” perspectives on the region onto his work for the exhibition, while Yang Soon Young, as an artist who spent her childhood in Jinbu, sought spiritual elements of a place—beyond its physical conditions—where her personal experiences about Jinbu and the traces of time have been collected. Lee Eun U and Kim Jin A, focused on the potential for social interaction of works of art, ones that express an artist’s thoughts based on regional research. They created their works in collaboration with the local residents in both intangible and tangible ways. The results of each artist’s efforts to create pieces of art by selecting an issue about the “present-residents-space” of Jinbu—based on their observations and communication in the village last summer—are presented in the form of media art, digital art, painting, and installation at Contemporary Look, one of exhibition spaces in Jinbu Market.
The exhibition presents works of art that began with each artist’s unique perspective in Jinbu Market, a popular spot in Jinbu where the daily lives of the local residents unfold. It is hoped that the exhibition will serve as a space where local people encounter and interact with contemporary art in more friendly ways. Laid out in Jinbu Market, a place that has changed with the lives of the people in Jinbu, the works dealing with the common memories shared by local people and their perceptions of the present time will offer an opportunity for viewers to experience a “rediscovery of a space,” as a familiar place is transformed into an exhibition space.

오일장 프로젝트전
진부시장 일원에 소개되는 오일장 프로젝트전은 진부 오일장이 서지 않는 날의 인적이 드물고 비어있는 시장 공간에 최세희 작가의 리사이클링 설치 작품을 소개한다. 지역주민들과 관람객들이 전시의 장으로 변모된 시장을 함께 거닐며 작품들을 감상할 수 있는, 일상의 삶과 예술이 공존하는 장(場)을 열고자 했던 것이 본 프로젝트전의 목표였다. 작가는 이번 전시를 위해 작가가 폐기되어 버린 허무한 삶의 단편들로 여기는 쓰고 버려진 종이컵들과 플라스틱 컵을 활용한 작품 4점을 제작하여 진부새싹길을 중심으로 진부전통시장상인회 사무실, 우가 식당 건너편 정자 앞, 롯데슈퍼 평창진부점 앞 주차장, 진부파출소 앞 공간에 설치한다.
그중 한곳인 진부전통시장상인회의 사무실 마당에서는 전시기간 중에 관람객들과 지역주민들이 작가와 협업하여 만드는 설치작업이 추가될 예정이다. 최세희의 작품들에서 일상의 소모품들은 심미적 가치를 지닌 설치예술작품으로 탈바꿈되며 어떻게 유기적으로 일상과 예술이 융합돼 있는지를 반영한다.
Five-day Market Project Exhibition
The Five-day Market Project Exhibition, presented at Jinbu Market and its vicinity, showcases recycling installation works by Choi Se Hee. It is held in the empty market area when the Jinbu Five-day Market is not open. This project was designed to provide a space where our daily lives and art coexist; local residents and visitors enjoy works of art as they walk together around the market that has been transformed into an exhibition venue. For the exhibition, Choi created art works using discarded cups, which the artist regards as part of a discarded, futile life. The works are installed along Jinbusaessak-gil; namely, at the office of the Merchant Association of Jinbu Traditional Market, in a pavilion opposite a restaurant Uga, and at a space in front of Jinbu Police Station. Of these installation works, the one at the office of the Merchant Association of Jinbu Traditional Market will be a collaboration between visitors, local residents, and the artist during the exhibition period. In Choi Se Hee’s works, everyday items are transformed into installation art works with aesthetic value, reflecting how our daily lives and art are combined.
